Meet Dominique's full custom Otso Voytek 2, a bike with a slightly different use case than your everyday fat bike. Dominique wanted a machine that would allow her to ride the snow-covered gravel roads of the Outaouais region. We knew we’d have to make some different choices when creating this beast, as most stock fat bikes are catered to winding, steep, and snow-laden trails. Because of this, the majority of fat bike riders pick gears for spinning up hills or slogging through deep snow. However, Dominique plans to stick to the roads, so she chose the new Shimano XT Di2 drivetrain with a 9–45 cassette and 36-tooth front chainring. Great on flat sections and gradual descents, while maintaining plenty of climbing ability.

Higher speeds make for more wind chill, and NO ONE likes cold fingers, so carbon bars and foam grips were a must for this rig. Carbon bars don't get nearly as frosty as their metal counterparts, and the foam grips are a terrific insulator for your digits! In this case, she went with a sweet set of OneUp carbon bars and SRAM foam lock-on grips.

The final touch is one many may overlook. Fat bikes have much larger Q-factors - how far apart your feet are apart on the pedals - than traditional bicycles due to the clearance needed for fitting big honking tires between the dropouts. To keep this bike feeling as comfortable as possible, Dominique chose a RaceFace NEXT SL carbon crankset, which keeps the Q-factor at a minimum and allows for a more natural riding feel.
